We lost touch with our friends from MyPhone and we just recently reconnect with them and found out about the change in MyPhone’s leadership. They went back from its roots and returned some its iconic features on their smartphones like the Pinoy app and the Philippine map at the back.

MyPhone has also revealed to us that they are going to discontinue all of its line up like the Rio, Iceberg and Infinity series. Right now, the company is only focused on the “My” line of smartphones. We recently reviewed the MyPhone My35 and we were very impressed. But there’s another smartphone that will cost you only P111 more than the My35 and that’s the MyPhone My36. The company’s calls its their affordable flagship. We have here the a review unit and unbox it!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

If the MyPhone My35 has a glossy back, the MyPhone My36 has faux leather. It feels so premium when you place the phone face down. The My36 is also taller with its larger 5.2-inch display and surprisingly lighter than the My35. Battery is non removable but you can peel out the back to reveal the dual SIM card slots and microSD card expansion.

Button and port placements – nothing on the left, power and volume rockers at the right, 3.5mm headset jack on the top, USB charging port at the bottom, 13 megapixel camera with flash and speaker grill at the back, 5 megapixel front camera with flash and 5.2-inch display at the back.

So far, we are very impressed with what we are seeing here. Display was superb, nice faux leather back, slim profile and good build quality. We will be using this as our daily driver for two weeks. We’ll be testing its battery, camera, performance and gaming. Stay tuned folks! 🙂
