HANDS ON AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The smartphone is massive! It is rocking a 6-inch display and it is quite hard to hold with one hand. Good thing Oppo managed to keep the phone slim so it is not as hard to hold it compared with other devices with the same screen size. Since it is encased in an aircraft grade aluminum shell, expect the device has some heft into it. We also find it slippery too. So, if you intend to buy one, please get a case as well.

The display is just awesome! The 6-inch Full HD AMOLED display has great viewing angles and good brightness output. Though we have to test it under sunlight if we are lucky to secure a review unit. A large display is perfect for multimedia use such as watching movies and playing games.

Oppo has been parading its image processing prowess on the Oppo R7 Plus. We took some photos from the event and we are surprised to see how good the photos are. Unfortunately we were not able to transfer any photos we took from the device.

Overall experience from the new ColorOS 2.1, Oppo’s custom UI on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop was generally pleasant. We never experiences any lags or slowdowns during our short test.

HANDS ON AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Compared with the Oppo R7 Plus, the R7 Lite is more pleasant to hold with one hand. It is lighter and more comfortable to hold.  The device is also encased in an aircraft grade aluminum shell making the device look more expensive than its SRP.

The display is fairly decent at 720 x 1280 pixels at a 5-inch screen. On the software side, it is as smooth as the higher end Oppo R7 Plus though we have to test more on its performance is we can secure a review unit.

The nice part here is the R7 Lite has the same camera optics found on the R7 Plus. Expect same good photos as the higher end model.

VERDICT

Between the two, the Oppo R7 Lite is a better option for us. It is more manageable to hold, more pocketable, same smooth performance and same quality of photos taken from the same optics. Overall, we are happy with our experience on both phones and it won’t be hard for us to recommend them to anyone. 🙂
