The Xiaomi Mi 4i is what we call a “mid range flagship” because of the way Xiaomi markets it to consumers. So we decided to buy one on Lazada and was delivered a day after we ordered online. The Mi 4i will also be available soon on Mi Authorized Resellers. So let’s unbox it, shall we?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

The first thing we noticed after taking the Mi 4i out of the box is the device is very slim and light despite having a large 3,120 mAh battery inside. As of this writing, only gray is available on Lazada but there are other color options like white, blue, yellow, etc. The company retains its simplistic design on the Mi 4i just like its siblings. The package comes with free Smart SIM but worry not guys, the phone is unlocked.

Checking button and port placements – SIM card tray on the left, volume rocker and power button on the left, USB charging port at the bottom while 3.5mm headset jack on top, Mi branding, 13 megapixel camera and speaker grill at the back and 5-inch display, sensors and the 5 megapixel front camera at the front.

As we write this article, we already have the device for around 12 hours now. So far, we are very impressed with its build quality. Display is bright, has good viewing angles. Color saturation and temperature can be adjusted to your liking. Like what we’ve said on our review of the Redmi 2, Xiaomi’s own skin on top of Android, MIUI is one of our favorite custom user interface.

Now we’re excited to put the Xiaomi Mi 4i to the test. Expect our full review within a week. 🙂
