DOST To Roll Out Free Wi-Fi Access Across The Philippines This Year

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently announced that it is planning to roll out free public WiFi internet to many places in our country this year.

Free WiFi access will be installed in the following areas:

  • Public Plaza and Parks
  • Public Schools
  • Public Libraries
  • Government Hospitals and Health Offices
  • State Universities and Colleges
  • MRT and LRT train stations
  • Airports and Seaports
  • Municipal and City Halls
  • National Government Offices

Internet speeds will be up to 256Kbps which is decent enough to post a Facebook status, a Tweet or post a photo on Instagram. You can also send Viber, FB Messenger, or from any chat apps at this speed. The roll out will begin this July 2015.
