Good news proud MyPhone users! The company has just announced the much-awaited Android 4.4 Kitkat on the following smartphones – MyPhone Rio, Rio Lite, Rio Fun, and the flagship smartphone, the Infinity.
However, there are things you need to know. First, you cannot update it via OTA (over the air) due to technical issues like inability to download large files on the handset. This means you must go to the nearest MyPhone service center to have your phone updated. Click here to see the list of MyPhone service centers nationwide.
If you are a MyPhone Rio owner, you must check the if the software version of your Rio is in version 1 (v1) and version 2 (v2). Only MyPhone Rio in v1 and v2 can be updated to Kitkat. When you reach the service center, you’ll have to pay P200 service fee to have your phone updated.
After reading this, you might be having a long sigh and probably, you don’t want to pay something that it is free to competitors. Well, there are other options like having your phone rooted. Join MyPhone Facebook groups and developers and ask help on how to root your phone and install Android Kitkat. Here at Filipino Tech Addict, we do not recommend rooting your smartphone especially if you do not have the knowledge to do so. A small mistake while rooting your phone can damage the software. Rooting can also make your warranty void.
