When Smart and Globe launched their LTE service before 2012 ends, many were curious as to when will Sun Cellular launch its own LTE service. At first, we thought it will not take long for Sun to launch its own LTE service for it will just use Smart’s LTE network. Both Smart and Sun are under PLDT, Globe Telecom’s main competitor.
After nearly 2 years since LTE was introduced to Filipinos, Sun Cellular has quietly launched its LTE service. Dubbed as Sun Broadband LTE, this service is offered only for Sun Broadband only. It means there’s no call and text service here. It just purely broadband.
Sun is offering two plans for its LTE service – Easy LTE Plan 999 and LTE Plan 999. Both plans have 4GB of internet surfing. But the difference is the Easy LTE Plan 999 has no contract when you get an LTE Modem or LTE Pocket WiFi. The LTE modem will cost around P4,500 while pocket WiFi will cost P3,500. LTE Plan 999 has a 12 month contract when you get the LTE modem with a cash out of P2,800 while the pocket WiFi has a 24 month contract with a cash out of P1,500.
We checked Sun LTE’s FAQ page and there’s no indication as to what will happen if you’ve reached 4GB of data. You will just be notified that you’ve reached the 4GB cap.

Are you switching to Sun’s LTE?
