The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) has just revealed that they have installed the first TD-LTE network in the country. TD-LTE means Time-Division Duplex Long Term Evolution, a different type of 4G technology which is entirely different from LTE FDD, the one Smart and Globe use now. We did some research about TD LTE and we found out that this technology is cheaper to access and has less data traffic. Good news is TD LTE can also be accessed by gadgets that normally use LTE FDD.
PLDT has installed 200 TD-LTE sites around the country. Most of them are in Metro Manila and Cebu. Other sites include parts of Central Luzon, Northern Luzon and parts of Mindanao like Davao Del Sur. The allocated bandwidth speed is 100Mbps. Wow!
Let’s wait and see what new services PLDT will offer with this new TD-LTE network.
