This is the second smartphone from Starmobile to sport an 8 megapixel front facing camera with autofocus, BSI and LED flash. Yes folks! There’s an LED flash on the front camera!

HARDWARE AND BUILD QUALITY:

What’s so unique about this phone is its color, We rarely see smartphone with this color so it definitely stands out among the bunch. The carbon fiber trim is also a nice touch. Looking at the phone, it does have some resemblance on its sibling, the Diamond D1. Overall, build quality is excellent and we give it a two thumbs up!

DISPLAY:

The phone sports a qHD (960 x 540) display which has a lower resolution compared to HD (1280 x 720) but despite that, it has good color reproduction and has good viewing angles, We are disappointed, however, when using it under direct sunlight.

SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE:

Just like its siblings that we’ve reviewed, this phone also performed well on our tests. Transitions are smooth, gaming is fluid, and lags are very minimal. Since its a Diamond D series, there are no customizations in the UI as compared to the Diamond S series. Experience almost vanilla Android on this one.

CAMERA:

And now, the portion you’ve been waiting for, the camera. We are happy to report that the camera, both front and back takes very good pictures. Photos had the right amount of detail. Of  course we did take pictures from the front facing camera using the flash. You can now take selfies on dark places!

INTERNET AND CONNECTIVITY:

Internet using HSPA+ from Globe or Smart is faster thanks to its dual band 3G radio. We normally got 3 to 5Mbps using either Smart or Globe on areas with strong connection. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi works just fine too.

BATTERY:

We managed to get 10 hours of moderate to heavy usage which is very impressive. You can even stretch it up to 14 hours of light usage.

VERDICT:

Can’t afford the Starmobile Muse? Then, this is the phone for you! You can get the same 8 megapixel camera with flash found on the Muse at P7,990. Taking selfies will never be the same anymore with the Starmobile Diamond D3!
